Our Groom Cameron was looking forward to his family flying in from Canada to share his big day with him and his beautiful Bride Amanda . Then, world travel stood still and the UK Government announced a tier system was about to be put in place meaning that Amanda and Cameron would not be able to get married at the end of the week as they planned which was a double blow for them.

Along with this, we as their Wedding Photographers were already booked for their second day option. So step in our very good friend and Wedding photographer Neil who supported with the shoot on the day, Massive thank you to you Neil :-) It was great to share your company again. The wedding service went ahead at the church on a sunny winters day in Surrey was skyped to the other side of the world for Camerons family to share.

How did you meet?

We met when we were 16! We were both into online gaming and during summer holidays ended up meeting through this and a mutual friend. We met for the first time in 2015 (when we were 19) in Canada and got together quickly after!

Tell us a little bit about yourselves?

Cameron works for Santander and is originally from Nova Scotia, Canada. Amanda works in Guy’s Hospital in a laboratory. We moved in together in 2016 when Cameron moved to the UK. We like to spend our time exploring the countryside, taking long walks and cosying up in the pub!

Tell us about the proposal

We went to Bruges for a festive break in December 2018. We had spent three lovely days there - unbeknownst to me Cameron had been panicking about proposing as nowhere had seemed romantic enough! He ended up proposing in Sint-Salvatorskathedraal one evening after he had taken me to a supposedly romantic riverbank during the day which hadn’t met his expectations.

Why did you choose your wedding venue?

When we walked in we instantly fell in love with Cain Manor. It was everything we wanted - cosy and rustic. Nowhere else we had visited had really captured that essence for us, and even though it has that cosy feeling, it still felt grand enough to have a real wow factor.

What was the theme of your wedding?

Our theme is autumn woods! Although we didn’t manage to execute that too much this year and we hope to do so at the reception next year!

What was the best thing about the build up to your day, Did anything not go to plan?

It was very stressful trying to move everything around after lockdown two was announced! But the support of family, friends, our pastor and suppliers was unbeatable and we are so grateful to have them. We had to move our reception due to coronavirus, but that just means we can have twice the party next year!

What are your favourite memories from your wedding day?

The horse and carriage was like a dream come true and we are so glad we had it. Walking down the aisle to Cameron was wonderful.. and then getting there and seeing that he wore the wrong shoes! Then sitting down during the service and noticing that he’d decided to wear Christmas socks! I can’t be cross with him as it’s very typical of him and did make me laugh!

What would you do differently if you did it again, and what advice would you give to couples getting married?

I don’t think we would do a single thing differently. My advice to couples is not to let the stress get you down - every problem has a solution and as long as you are married at the end of the day, the little issues will be forgotten.
